Steel Baskets

Stainless steel is an alloy that is made up mostly of iron and chromium. Chromium is what gives stainless steel its corrosion-resistant properties; on its own, iron is unstable and naturally oxidizes to rust. Nickel or molybdenum are at times added to the alloy to confer greater resistance to corrosion at specific instances. It therefore follows that steel baskets corrode at a rate far less than aluminum baskets.

Stainless steel wire storage baskets are also stronger. It is its carbon content that renders strength to steel: the higher the carbon content, but at the expense of malleability, which in turn is the edge of aluminum over steel.
